Counselling and Psychotherapy

The Frog Was Never a Prince
The Frog Was Never a Prince is my first book. It is currently in development and very close to being completed.
In my book, I explore why women can become trapped in toxic and abusive relationships. Through my own lived experience, I look at why leaving is so complex and isn't nearly as simple as people on the outside often believe. Along the way, I discovered some game-changing insights that helped me finally break the cycle.
Drawing on my experience of repeatedly leaving and returning to a toxic relationship, alongside what I've learned through my work as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist, the book looks beyond the question:
“Why did they do that?”
and asks another:
“What keeps us there?”
Coming soon.
Lived-experience talks on resilience, identity, and rebuilding after life changes.

I speak about mental health, resilience, relationships, identity, grief, change and what happens when life doesn't quite go according to plan.
As a Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I bring professional knowledge to my speaking, but I'm also a big believer in keeping things real. I use lived experience, storytelling, psychology and humour to talk about some of the things many of us experience but don't always know how to talk about.
I'm available for keynote speaking, workplace and community events, conferences, women's events, schools and education settings. Talks can be tailored to suit the audience and the conversation you're wanting to create.

How to Stay Mentally Strong Through Life's Challenges
Diagnosis to Drummer is my signature lived-experience talk about what happens when life changes without asking our permission.
After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2020, I had to grieve the life I thought I was going to have and work out what came next. Through storytelling, psychology, humour and music, I explore resilience, identity, grief, and reinvention and how we can begin rebuilding from exactly where we are.
At the heart of the talk is my STAR approach, which offers a grounded, real approach to moving through adversity:
S ~ Sitting in the Mud (Grieving).
Change hurts, so let's give ourselves permission to grieve when life doesn’t turn out as expected.
T ~ Thoughts.
Instead of running, numbing, or avoiding, we learn to sit with our thoughts and emotions. Healing takes time.
A ~ Acceptance.
Acceptance doesn’t mean liking what’s happened; it means acknowledging where you are so you can move forward.
R ~ Reinvention (Movement).
From here, we ask: How do I rebuild? What matters now? Reinvention is about aligning life with your values, truth, and new reality.
I'm also available to speak on broader mental health and wellbeing topics, drawing on my experience as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist, author and woman who has had to reinvent herself more than once.
Topics can include emotional resilience, anxiety and overwhelm, relationships and unhealthy patterns, people-pleasing and boundaries, grief and loss, chronic illness, identity, mental health through major life changes and what it means to start again when life hasn't gone according to plan.
I don't believe a good mental health talk should feel like someone standing at the front of a room reciting information people could have Googled themselves.
I want people to recognise themselves in what I'm talking about, think differently, and leave with something useful.
If you're looking for a keynote speaker, mental health speaker or someone to contribute to an event, conference, workplace, school or community program, I'd love to hear what you're planning.
My talks can be adapted to suit your audience, event and the conversation you'd like to create.

Diagnosis to Drummer
If you're looking for a keynote speaker, mental health speaker, or someone to contribute to an event, conference, workplace, school, or community program, I'd love to hear what you're planning.
My talks can be adapted to suit your audience, event, and the conversation you'd like to create.

I've had the opportunity to join conversations about mental health, Multiple Sclerosis, resilience, relationships, and what happens when life takes an unexpected turn.
I enjoy conversations that go beyond the polished version of life and get into what it's actually like to experience change, loss, uncertainty, and rebuilding.
Podcast & Media Appearances
I've joined other hosts as a podcast guest and interviewee, sharing both my professional perspective as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist and my own lived experience.
You can listen to or watch some of those conversations below.
From My Own Microphone
I've also experimented with creating my own podcast, because apparently writing a book, counselling, speaking, and playing the drums weren't quite enough things to do.
While I'm not currently producing regular episodes, you can listen to some of those earlier conversations below.
Interested in having me join the Conversation?
I'm available for podcast interviews, media conversations, and guest appearances on topics including mental health, relationships, toxic and abusive relationship patterns, resilience, chronic illness, grief, identity, and reinvention.
If you think I'd be a good fit for your podcast, program or conversation, I'd love to hear from you.
